"Angel Berehynia"
Acrylic painting on Canvas
UCSF Community Concert for Refugees & Ukraine. May 19, 2022

Inspired by the sculpture of the angel "Bereinia" pre-Christian Slavic mythology is located in the Independence Square ( Maidan Nezalezhnosti) in the city of Kyiv, Ukraine. In the center of the painting, I recreate the angel looking to the right side as a symbol of God's chosen people. In his right hand, he holds the sword as a symbol of strength, and in his left hand, he holds the laurel wreath that symbolizes the victory of the people despite the battle.

The painting is divided in half, representing the colors of the Ukrainian flag, On the top blue sky in a storm with a rain of rocks alluding to the destructive power of man, and at the bottom, the yellow color represents golden fields of grain, now in flames of fire, symbolizing the current conflict in the fields.

In the center, the angel "Bereinia" holds a ribbon of the flag of Ukraine, below which in Ukrainian we see the message " May they receive mercy, peace, and love in abundance.
Jude 1:2".
